This workshop introduces the basics of setting up a business on ebay. Strategies and tips will be shared on how to go about selling successfully. Participants will walk through the process of listing, selling and receiving payment for items sold.

An Information Fair of Programs & Services Aiding the Elderly
When:    Saturday March 13, 2010
Time:     10:00 a.m- 2:00 p.m
Where:   Estill County High School Hosted by: Estill County High School Service Learning Program

On March 13^th 2010, Estill County High School Service Learning students will be holding a Resource Fair for Senior Citizens and caretakers. After researching, the students have concluded there has never been an event of this magnitude that focuses primarily on the information programs and services aiding the elderly. Students will be teaming up with organizations and agencies to implement this event.

Attendees will learn about retirement planning, Social Security, Power of Attorney & Living Wills, caring for aging parents, Senior nutrition, Alzheimer’s and other mind altering diseases of the elderly, slip & fall prevention, public & personal safety, housing, and much more.

Agencies and speakers include: Legal Helpline for Older Kentuckians, Social Security Administration, EKU Department of Exercise, Office of the Attorney General, Alzheimer’s Association, AARP, KY Safe Aging Coalition, Kentucky local agencies and aging programs.

Leadership Estill County

The Estill County Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce an upcoming program to benefit our community. Leadership Estill County (LEC) is a six month class, made up of people from our community, which aims to expand the network of potential future leaders of Estill County; enhance participants’ knowledge of the structure and operation of local businesses, schools, healthcare providers, government, civic and charitable organizations; introduce the participants to local business owners, educators and school administrators, healthcare providers and staff, government officials and the leaders of civic and charitable organizations; foster a better understanding of local issues and needs; and develop leadership and team building skills.

Participants will be charged with forming and undertaking community projects and have access to a pool of funds to make them happen. The program includes two overnight trips and four day-long sessions between February and June. All meals and accommodations will be included. Tuition is $200.00, which may be paid by participants or a sponsor/employer. A limited number of scholarships are available, so all interested people are encouraged to apply.

LEC is meant for those who want to be more involved in improving our community. Class size is limited and applications are due February 10. LEC is brought to you through a partnership between Estill Development Alliance and the Brushy Fork Institute with funding from the Appalachian Regional Commission.

Do you find the task of developing a strategic plan for your business or organization to be daunting? Find out how by attending “One-Page Strategic Plan: A Quick and Easy Approach”. The sessions will provide a quick and easy technique for developing a one-page plan that expresses your organization’s vision and mission, sets objectives, outlines strategies and describes action plans. The sessions will give a starting place for the Mountain Mushroom Festival committee, other local non-profit organizations, businesses, local governments, and artisans to get started on a one-page plan. Workshops dates are January 19th and 26th at Cedar Village Restaurant, 1100 Richmond Rd., Irvine. The free sessions will begin at 5:30 pm with the meal and the workshop at 6:15 pm. Must pre-register.
